Format for writing Report with example according to CBSE new pattern: How to write Report
A report is a factual account or description of an event that has already taken place. It is mostly written for newspaper, magazines and news channels.According to CBSE curriculum, students have been suggested to use a particular type of format for Report writing. No changes have been observed in the format of writing a Report. At the top, the headline should be written. It must be catchy to attract the attention of the reader and have brief indication of the event that had happened. Below the heading, byline should be written which will contains the name of the reporter. After that, there will be 3 to 4 paragraphs of news. The first paragraph start with the name of the city where event took place and date of report writing. This format of Report writing is followed in CBSE exams.
Points to be noted while writing the Report:
(i) The Report should be put inside a rectangular box after writing.
(ii) It should be narrated in third person.
(iii) It should be brief with less use of the articles, prepositions etc. and use abbreviations and short forms of words are required wherever possible.
(iv) The leading para answers the questions of who, what, when, why and other details of the incident.
(v) Next para will include eyewitness accounts, their quotes and feelings.
(vi) Last para will contain the future steps that can be taken and other stuffs.
