CBSE Class 12 English Elective Syllabus 2019-20
CBSE has released the Class 12 English Elective Syllabus 2019-20. The annual board examination will be of 80 marks, with a duration of three hours. There will be seminar for 20 Marks.

Section A - Reading Comprehension (20 Marks)
A. Literary or Discursive passage of about 900-950 words (12 questions including 6 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)) - 12 Marks
B. A poem of about 20-24 lines (04 Short Answer Questions to be answered in 50-60 words) - 8 Marks
Section B - Creative Writing Skills (20 Marks)
1. An essay (in 150 to 200 words): 10 Marks
2. A composition such as an article / a report /a speech (in 150-200 words): 10 Marks
Section C - Literature Textbooks and Fiction (40 Marks)
Woven Words
1. Eight Objective type Questions out of 09: 1✕8=8 Marks
2. Three Short Answer Questions out of 04: 6 Marks
3. One Long Answer Questions out of 02 - 6 Marks
B. Arms and the Man - [Drama]
• Two Long Answer Questions out of three to be answered in 80-100 word - 10 Marks
C. Fiction (10 Marks)
1. Two Short Answer Questions out of three to be answered in 50-60 words - 4 Marks
2. One Long Answer Question out of 02 to be answered in 120-150 words - 6 Marks
Seminar (20 marks)
• Presentation - book review /a play /a short story/a novel/novella
• Poetry reading
• Conducting a theatre workshop
