Yet no Decision has been taken by CBSE on promotion of school students
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the remaining board examination for Class 12 and Class 10 students but there is no notification about the students of classes 1 to 9 and class 11.
Meanwhile, several state boards in various classes have announced that students other than students of classes 10 and 12 will be promoted to the next class without any examination.
CBSE spokesperson, Ms. Rama Sharma, said on inquiry that the board only conducts Class 10 and Class 12 exams and is not responsible for exams and promotions for other classes. He said that this decision will be taken after the decision of the Directorate of Education (DOE).
Meanwhile, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has announced that students from classes 1 to 8 will be promoted to the next class, irrespective of whether they have appeared for the final examination or not.
The Gujarat board has also announced that students of classes 1 to 8 and class 11 will be promoted to the next class without examination.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has also decided to promote all students from class 1 to 9.
Meanwhile, the MHRD has asked the CBSE and NTA to work out new dates for the board exams which were postponed and for the JEE exam which was to take place in April but has been postponed due to outbreak of coronovirus.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 21 days of complete lockdown of the country on the evening of 24 March. Only essential services will be open.
Also, MHRD has asked CBSE, NCERT and NIOS to create new academic calendar
