Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board popularly called GSEB is a state educational board which is responsible for conducting Class 10 and 12 Board examinations in the state of Gujarat. This board is controlled and managed by the Education Department of Gujarat Government.
The GSEB conducts 2 (including 4-semester type examinations) main examinations - The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam for Standard 10 and the Higher Secondary (School) Certificate (HSC)examination for Standard XI-XII students in Gujarat. The Board also holds a Talent Search for students of Std VIII & IX in five major subjects every year The Gujarat board was formed on the basis of 'The Gujarat Secondary Education Act 1972'.

Class 10
Students who are appearing for Class 10 need to study five subjects. These are:
• First language (Gujarati, English, Tamil, Urdu, Hindi, Marathi, Sindhi, Telugu and Odiya)
• Second language (Gujarati, English, Sanskrit, Hindi, Sindhi, Arabic, Farsi and Urdu)
• Mathematics
• Social Science
• Science and Technology
After 2011, GSEB has decided to drop the percentage system and introduced percentile system. As per the system, rank can be calculated by subtracting the percentile from 100. The number obtained is multiplied by the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam in the group. The number obtained in the previous step is divided by 100 to get the rank.
Class 12
After passing Class 10, a student has to select between three streams, science, commerce and humanities. Students need to study subjects are per their selection.
