Science is a way of thinking, observing and doing things to understand the world we live in and to uncover the secrets of the universe.

Science can be as simple as baking a cake or visiting the zoo to thrilling adventures such as studying the ocean or launching a rocket. Science is everywhere and it is fun for everyone.

The most wonderful thing about science is that it is everywhere, from the depths of the ocean to the vastness of outer space, from what is cooking in the kitchen to what is happening on the playground.


Question 2. What will we explore with the help of this book? (Page 3)

Answer

With the help of this book, we will explore our home, planet Earth and understand the beautiful world we live in and the natural phenomenon we witness.

We will learn that Earth is the only planet that supports life, and it has an environment that we must protect. We will also explore different plants and animals which have managed to survive and thrive in different regions on this planet.


Question 3. How can we try toy find answers to our questions on our own? (Page 5)

Answer

We can find answers on our own by asking questions and observations. Our observations and our experimentation allows us to find the answer. Also, learning science will develop our capabilities for finding solutions to bigger problems and solving more mysteries of the universe.


Question 4. After all, to be a wise, person, you must be a “whys” person! (Page 8)

Answer

A curious mind is a wise mind. A person who asks questions displays critical and analytical mind, which shows wisdom. Hence a why’s person is said to be wise. You can think like a scientist by using scientific method to find out answers of your queries, like why your pen stops writing, why dal gets spilled out of pressure cooker, why your bicycle tyre gets flattened, how clouds are formed, how it is raining, etc.


Question 5. Did you enjoy discovering and exploring the world around you in the Preparatory Stage of school?

Answer

Yes, I really enjoyed it! We did lots of fun experiments and learned about plants, animals, and the world around us. It was exciting to discover new things.


Question 6. Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered why the stars shine?

Answer

Yes, I have! It's amazing to see all those tiny lights in the sky. I've always makes them shine so brightly even though they're so far away.


Question 7. A flower bloom and wondered how it knows when to open?

Answer

I have noticed flowers blooming, and it's pretty amazing. It seems like they know exactly when to open up. I guess they must sense something in their environment.


Question 8. Every new discovery we make adds another piece to puzzle? And you know the best thing about this puzzle?

Answer

There's no limit to what we can discover! The puzzle keeps growing as we learn more, so we'll never run out of new things to find out.


Question 9. What happens as we discover more and more?

Answer

We start realizing that these ideas are all connected. One discovery often leads to another, and we see how different parts of science fit together.


Question 10. What will we explore with the help of this book?

Answer

We'll explore lots of exciting things like our planet Earth, plants and animals, food, materials, water, temperature, and even things in space like the Sun, Moon, and stars!


Question 11. You might have seen a seed grow into a plant, a caterpillar transforms into a beautiful butterfly and many more such observations. How do these plants and animals grow?

Answer

Plants and animals grow by taking in food and nutrients from their environment. They have special processes that help them change and develop over time.


Question 12. Across the country, we have different cuisines with their many tasty dishes. What are they made of? How do we find out?

Answer

Different cuisines use various ingredients like vegetables, meats, grains, and spices. We can find out what they're made of by looking at recipes, asking people who make the food, or even by carefully tasting and examining the dishes ourselves.


Question 13. Have you ever run and jumped in a puddle when it rained?

Answer

Yes, it's so much fun to splash in puddles when it rains! The water makes big splashes and it feels cool on a hot day.


Question 14. Have you noticed that water freezes and becomes ice when we cool it and boils and becomes steam when we heat it?

Answer

Yes, I've noticed that! It's really interesting how water can change for temperature like that. It seems like temperature plays a big role in these changes.


Question 15. Do you enjoy drinking cool water in the summer or showering with warm water in the winter?

Answer

I do! Cool water is so refreshing in summer, and a warm shower feels great when it's cold outside.

It's interesting how the same thing (water) can feel so different at different temperatures.


Question 16. How do we understand hot and cold?

Answer

We can understand hot and cold by using our senses, like touch, but also by using tools like thermometers that can measure temperature more accurately.


Question 17. What are they made of? Are they made of different materials? How do we separate different materials from one another?

Answer

Different things are made of different materials. Some are made of metal, others of plastic, wood, or glass. We can separate materials in different ways, like using magnets for metals, or dissolving some materials in water.


Question 18. How can we try to find answers to our questions on our own?

Answer

We can try to find answers on our own by following the scientific method.

  • Observing things carefully,
  • Asking questions,
  • Making guesses (hypotheses),
  • Testing our ideas through experiments, and then analyzing the results.
